Legal notice

Version of 14 September 2026.

1. Nature of this site

Prototype under development. This website is not currently an official website of the European Union or of the Delegation of the European Union to Chile. Nor is it one of the European Commission, the European External Action Service or any member state. There is, as of today, no institutional endorsement, sponsorship or approval from any of those bodies, and nothing here should be read as implying one.

2. Ownership and hosting

3. The European Union emblem and the European Commission logo

These are two different signs governed by different rules.

a) The European Union emblem

Under the administrative agreement published in OJ C 271, 8.9.2012, any natural or legal person may use the European emblem without prior written authorisation, provided that the use: does not create the incorrect impression of a connection with the institutions, bodies, offices or agencies of the Union or of the Council of Europe; does not lead the public to believe erroneously that the user benefits from their support, sponsorship, approval or consent; and is not made in connection with objectives or activities incompatible with the aims and principles of the Union. Such use does not permit registering the emblem, or an imitation of it, as a trade mark or other intellectual property right.

In the current (prototype) version of this site the emblem is not displayed. Not because it is prohibited, but out of prudence: on a site whose subject is precisely the European presence in Chile, using it as the identity could suggest an institutional endorsement that has not yet been confirmed. The official file is kept in the repository, downloaded from the official source and unmodified.

b) The European Commission logo

This is a different sign: it combines the emblem with the stars modified, a symbol of the Berlaymont building and the institution's name. For that reason it cannot be used in place of the EU emblem, and third-party use requires prior permission from the Commission. This site does not use it and will not do so without that permission.

c) Identity of the Delegation of the European Union to Chile

Should the project be formally adopted by the Delegation, the applicable identity is the EEAS identity for Union Delegations: the official emblem together with the Delegation's name. That lockup must be supplied by the Delegation or the EEAS. It is not redrawn, approximated or generated: the site includes a branding mode prepared to take the official files once they are received.

Rules respected in every case: the emblem is not modified or merged with other graphic elements or text; its proportions and colours are not altered; no shadows or effects are added; and if it were shown alongside other logos, it would be at least the same size as the largest of them.

4. Third-party trademarks and logos

The names of chambers, agencies, ministries and trade offices cited belong to their respective owners and are used solely to identify and describe which organisation each link refers to. This site does not reproduce their logos: each organisation was checked individually for published brand materials and for terms that would permit this use, and the result of that check is recorded in data/brand-assets.json. Unless permission is on record, organisations are identified typographically.

5. Linked content

Links point to third-party sites. We do not control their content, availability or practices, and their inclusion implies neither endorsement nor association. When a link stops working it is removed or flagged rather than left in place.

6. Limitation of liability

Information is provided for guidance. Despite the verification described in Sources and methodology, diplomatic and commercial structures change and some entries may become outdated. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, commercial or investment advice. Always check with the relevant organisation before acting.

7. Licence of original content

The texts written for this site and the data structure may be published under an open licence still to be decided: [TO BE CONFIRMED BY EU DELEGATION]

Photographs and flags retain their original licences, detailed in the repository's ATTRIBUTION.md file and summarised in Sources and methodology.
