Sources and methodology
Information last checked on 14 September 2026.
This directory is compiled from official government, embassy, trade agency and bilateral chamber sources. Information was last verified on 14 September 2026.
How it was compiled
- For each member state we looked, in this order, for: an official trade office in Chile, a national trade or investment agency covering Chile, a bilateral chamber, a business hub, the embassy's economic section and — where there is no local presence — the office from which Chile is covered.
- Primary sources were prioritised: government and ministry websites, embassies, official agencies, chambers and public registries. Business directories and social networks were used at most as a pointer towards the institutional source, never as the main source.
- Every URL was checked individually: that it exists, responds, uses HTTPS, genuinely relates to Chile, and is the organisation's canonical address rather than a search result or an obsolete page.
- Where evidence is insufficient, this is stated explicitly on the entry instead of presenting doubtful information as fact.
Classification by type of presence
This classification is editorial, created for this directory. It is not an official statistic of the European Union or of any other institution. It is published here, with its exact definitions, so that anyone can check the criterion applied and challenge it.
- Direct presence
- A verified dedicated trade office, bilateral chamber or business platform operating in Chile.
- Embassy / economic channel
- Economic or commercial access through a resident diplomatic mission, without a separately verified bilateral trade organisation.
- Regional / national coverage
- Chile is served through an agency or diplomatic/commercial representation located outside Chile or from the home country.
On these definitions the current split is 16 states with direct presence, 3 with an embassy channel and 8 with regional or national coverage. Borderline cases were resolved as follows: a trade office embedded in an embassy (Austria, Denmark, Finland or Portugal, for example) counts as direct presence, because a dedicated and verifiable trade structure exists in Chile; an honorary consulate does not.
Verification states
Every organisation — not every country — carries its own verification state, with a date, the source checked and a note explaining exactly what could be confirmed.
- Verified
- The URL resolves and the page itself evidences both the organisation and its relevance to Chile.
- Partially verified
- The URL resolves, but the link to Chile is indirect (a national agency with no specific page) or the server blocks automated checking and it was confirmed by hand.
- Unverified
- The organisation's own site could not be confirmed. It is named but not linked, and the reason is given.
Of the 50 organisations listed: 32 verified, 17 partially verified and 1 unverified. These figures refer to organisations, not countries.
Reference primary sources
- Delegation of the European Union to Chile (EEAS) (external site), as the institutional reference for the EU–Chile framework.
- National Chamber of Commerce of Chile — member binational chambers (external site), as the Chilean registry of bilateral chambers.
- European Commission — EU Chambers & Business organisations (external site), which identifies EuroChile as the reference European business organisation in Chile.
- Country pages of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile (external site), for each member state's bilateral framework.
- Registry of foreign consulates in Chile — Government of Chile (external site), for honorary representations.

Corrections found during verification
- Denmark: the
chile.um.dkdomain returns a 520 error; the live address isum.dk/chile. - Netherlands: the
netherlandsandyou.nl/web/chile/…path returns "page not found"; the live one includes thechile-ensuffix. - Czechia:
czechtrade.clnow redirects toczechtradeoffices.com. - Netherlands (legacy registry): the
camarachileholanda.cldomain listed in historical directories no longer resolves; the chamber operates as Holland House Chile. - Romania: the embassy site,
santiagodechile.mae.ro, returns a 503 error, so it is not linked until it is available again. - Chilean foreign ministry: deep links to PDF documents on
minrel.gob.cl— including the Diplomatic Guide — redirect to the homepage even from a real browser, so they are not cited as links. There is also no country page for Bulgaria.
Limitations
- Some official servers (the foreign ministries of Greece, Slovakia, Estonia and Bulgaria among them) block automated checks. Those pages were reviewed manually in a browser and are recorded as partially verified.
- The absence of a bilateral chamber from this directory means no sufficient official evidence of its current activity was found — not necessarily that it does not exist.
- Where an entry says no presence in Chile has been verified, that refers to what this review checked: a trade office or a bilateral chamber with its own website. It is not a statement about whether diplomatic representation exists, which could not be confirmed against an accessible Chilean official registry.
Images, flags, logos and the emblem
- Flags: SVG files from the flag-icons project, MIT licensed, served locally. No remote flag service is used.
- Photographs: three images from Wikimedia Commons. Each caption names the author,
the licence, the source and whether it was cropped. Two are CC BY-SA 4.0, so the published crops
inherit that licence; the third is CC0. Full detail is in
ATTRIBUTION.md. - Organisation logos: each organisation was checked for published brand materials and the
terms attached to them. The result is recorded in
data/brand-assets.json, with a usage status and the contact route for requesting permission. Unless permission is on record, no logo is displayed and organisations are identified typographically. The fact that an image can be downloaded is never treated as evidence of permission. - EU emblem and Commission logo: two different signs with different rules. The full explanation is in the legal notice.
